Requests
One of our most popular programmes is the patients request programme "Ward Call". This is broadcast live between 8pm and 9pm Sunday to Wednesday inclusive. In case you miss it, there are another two chances to hear it again, at 2am and 2pm the day after broadcast.
We have two rules for Ward Call, if a patient has requested something and we have it then we will guarantee to play it, secondly, we will not talk over the intro and the outro of the song!
There are a number of ways you can hear your favourite tune in Ward Call.
Firstly, talk to one of our volunteers. They make regular visits to the wards in the Sunderland Royal, meeting patients and collecting requests from them for that evenings Ward Call.
Get a visitor to drop your request into the blue request box which is opposite the lifts on floor B.
Give your request to a nurse and ask them to put it in the internal mail, although you should allow an extra 24 hours notice for this method.
Finally, you can contact us yourself! Call us any time on 0191 5699 098 and leave your request on our answering machine. As well as telling us the artist and title of your chosen record, please remember to leave your name (or the patients name if it is for someone else), the hospital ward and the day you would like the request broadcast.
