Advanced Training

Basic training is outlined in First Steps and this is the minimum standard expected of everyone that wishes to be involved in live programmes at the studio. However, additional training is available to all our members as and when required or requested.

Further Training - not an exhaustive list!

Radio News - Compiling a two or three minute news bulletin and being able to deliver it to an exact time.

Sports Team - working on the sports team requires a range of new skills which can be and can be both challenging and rewarding.

Digital Editing - Learning to use special audio software to edit interviews and music and prepare radio packages for broadcast.

Production - Developing the skills required to create radio jingles and trails.

Specialist Programming - Creating a new programme from scratch can be immensely satisfying but it does require a lot of advance preparation.

Self-Drive - This essentially combines presenting with technical operation and gives you total control of the programme sound.

Interviewing - How to interview for radio, including preparation and editing of your material.

Drama - Writing and producing drama for radio is very labour intensive but it also affords total freedom; to go anywhere and to do anything without having to worry about going over budget because everything happens inside the mind of the listener!
